Come see Mateus partake in the FenderNews-exclusive, public interview event “Fender Flagship Tokyo Special Event with Mateus Asato” to be held on the release date of Mateus’ debut album, “ASATO”, Friday, February 27th.
The event will feature an in-depth talk covering his thoughts on his album and his approach to guitar playing—plus a special live performance with his band. This will be a rare opportunity to experience Mateus’ performance up close, featuring his recently favored Fender American Ultra Luxe Vintage Stratocaster, customized specifically to his liking. Mateus Asato is a guitarist from Brazil. He began playing guitar at the age of nine and later enrolled at the Musicians Institute in Los Angeles, where he developed a distinctive style that fuses technical excellence with deep emotional expression. He graduated at the top of his class. Widely acclaimed by the media as “one of the most influential guitarists of the modern era,” Asato was selected by Guitar World Magazine as one of the Top 10 Guitarists of the Decade (2020). He was also ranked #3 “Top Guitarist Right Now” by Total Guitar (2020), and in 2022 he appeared once again in Guitar World Magazine, placing #14 on the “Hottest Guitar Players in the World” list. Beyond genres, Asato has performed and collaborated with a wide range of leading artists who define today’s music scene.
